    • attentive - (adj) paying attention; thoughtful and polite
    • blossom - (noun) a flower, (verb) 1) to make flowers, 2) to develop; to become better
    • communicate - (verb) to make known; to give or exchange information
    • distress - (noun) 1) deep worry or suffering, 2) being in danger or in trouble, (verb) to trouble or upset; to cause worry or stress
    • meadow - (noun) a field of grass or wildflowers
    • peculiar - (adj) not like the normal or usual; odd or curious
    • recognize - (verb) to know and remember upon seeing
    • shabby - (adj) 1) worn or faded from use or wear, 2) not fair or generous

    Math Skills:  Understanding Multiplication and Division

    Math Vocabulary 

    • factor pair - two numbers that are multiplied together to give a product
    • multiple - the product of the number and any other whole number (4, 8, 12, etc. are multiples of 4)
    • composite number - a number that has more than one pair of factors
    • prime number - a number that has only one pair of factors: 1 and itself
    • multiplication - an operation used to find the total number of items in equal-sized groups
    • division - an operation used to separate a number of items into equal-sized groups
    • rule - a procedure that is followed to go from one number or shape to the next in a pattern
    • shape pattern - a series of shapes that follow a rule to repeat or change
    • number pattern - a series of numbers that follow a rule to repeat or change

    Skills: Light and Sound

    Vocabulary:  

    • sound - energy that travels through the air and can be heard by the ear
    • vibration - a series of small, fast movements back and forth from side to side
    • absorption - when a part or the whole amount of light is lost inside of an object
    • light energy - energy that can be sensed by the eye
    • material - the matter from which a thing is or can be made
    • model - a limited representation of something that can help us understand its structure or how it works
    • object - something that can be touched and seen
    • opaque - a material that does not allow any light to pass through it
    • reflection - energy waves bouncing off the surface of an object (mirrors or echoes return energy back to the source)
    • refraction - the bending or redirection of energy waves as they pass from one substance to another
    • transparent - completely allowing light to pass through
    • translucent - partially allowing light to pass through
